On Friday evening January 6th the ACS community celebrated its 38th annual Homecoming. It was a special evening of basketball, pageantry and reminiscing. Each year in early January the extended ACS family gathers for a time to celebrate the present and praise the LORD for the past. This year was no exception.
One of the highest honors that a high school student can achieve is to be chosen by his peers to represent his school as Mr. and Miss ACS. The young people on the court were chosen by the grade nine through twelve students as those who best meet the following guidelines:
- They evidence the Fruit of the Spirit found in Galatians 5: 22-23
- They maintain a consistent testimony both at and away from school
- They display Christian love while showing genuine concern for their fellow students.
- Their actions, attitudes, and appearance show appreciation for and loyalty to their school.
This year's court included Leslie Bunker, Taylor Burns, Jennafer Fowler, Melissa Hadley, Shelby Henning, Phillip Barker, Ethan Fincannon, Jacob Hicks, Mark Kephart, and Ross Meyers. After Mr. Manning read brief biographies of each member of the court he announced that Mark Kephart and Shelby Henning were selected as Mr. and Miss ACS.
Following the announcement of the court and naming of Mr. and Miss ACS, an alumni reception was held in honor of all alumni present. A large number of alumni enjoyed the festivities and fellowship of the evening, we thank each one for coming and helping to make Homecoming 2012 such a memorable evening.
