Friday evening, May 15th, ACS celebrated its 40th Anniversary with a fantastic banquet at the Alamance Country Club. The menu included chicken cordon bleu, braised beef, salad, vegetables, fruit, bread, and an anniversary cake. After the staff ushered us through the buffet line and we all had enjoyed our dinners, Mr. Daniel Freeman, Administrator of ACS, opened the mike for testimonies and remembrances from the attendees.
There were some laughs and some tears as these words of testimony and rememberance were shared by alumni and former staff. Two ladies from the initial faculty were present and honored - Mrs. Ruby Tester and Mrs. Virginia Sellew. Mr. Bill Sponseller, Mr. Bob La Tour, and Mr. Daniel Freeman represented administrators of ACS current and past.
In conclusion, we stood and gave praise to God for His goodness to ACS by singing "To God Be the Glory."
Pictures of this event have been posted under the "Galleries."
The day dawned cloudy with a promise of rain, but instead we had a slightly overcast day, with bright splashes of sunshine, and a lovely breeze to make the day wonderful.
The alumni soccer game was exciting and spoke well of the training these men received when they were participants on the ACS soccer teams of the past.
The kids really enjoyed playing on the inflatables that were donated for the kids' pleasure. I saw a lot of happy faces as they climbed, bounced, and careened all over the two inflatables. The ponies were kept busy giving our youngsters rides in the "pasture." And food! Well, those hotdogs grilled by Mr. Helms were wonderful with just the right condiments atop. The assorted games were fun and yielded prizes of freebies at Chick-Fil-A or candy. Cotton candy, snow cones, smiles, laughs, fellowship..... all were in abundance and "free" for a punch on your entrance card.
