How old does my child need to be to start K3? He or she must be 3 years old. They cannot attend until they reach their 3rd birthday.
Does my child have to be potty trained? Yes, we are not equipped to handle this training.
Is it necessary to attend K4 in order to enter K5? No, North Carolina law does not require a student to enter school until 7 years old. If you have been teaching your child a few things at home, he or she will be ready for K5. Our section on Preschool to see what we teach in K4 to determine how ready your child is to enter school.
What curriculum do you use in elementary? BJU Press materials are used in most courses. We also use Saxon Math, Positive Action for Bible, and some A Beka materials in reading.
What is Saxon Math? It is a secular publisher that has a unique method of teaching math using constant repetition and a lot of manipulatives.
What other activities are available for my child in addition to the core curriculum? We offer elective courses in Spanish, Music, Speech, Art, Listening and Physical Education. How many field trips do the classes take each year? Each class in elementary takes at least two field trips which are usually educational in nature.
If my child is experiencing academic difficulties, what do you have to help? We have tutors that are available for a limited amount of tutoring. We also refer students to be tested to assess specific problems which will direct the teachers how to best help the child in the classroom. The teachers are also very willing to help a student who is struggling.
What are the most common colleges your students attend? Our students attend in-state colleges such as UNC-Greensboro, UNC-Chapel Hill, NC State University, Appalachian, and Alamance Community College. Some of our graduates attend Christian colleges such as Bryan College, Liberty University, and Bob Jones University. The list varies from year to year depending on the interests of the class.
How do your students do on the SAT? Our students consistently score higher than the local, state, and national averages. What percentage of your students attend? We usually see about 60% of our graduates go to a four year degree program and about 30 percent go to a two year program.
Are your students ever not accepted into a college because they went to a Christian school? No. If they don’t get accepted, it is based on their own individual record and not where they went to school.
Do your graduates qualify for scholarships? Many of our students have received scholarships from state-supported schools and from private secular and Christian colleges.
