To them, it’s not just another job. Nor is it just another ministry opportunity. It’s not even a sense of duty.
It’s a calling. It’s a passion. It’s shaping young lives for what’s ahead, both in this world and beyond.
The faculty and staff at ACS are dedicated group of people, representing numerous different college and university backgrounds. All are professing believers who have undergone an in-depth interview process that probes both spiritual and educational qualifications.
But far beyond teaching the facts and theories, the instructors at ACS are committed to a higher goal than just imparting knowledge. They are concerned with the very souls of the students they teach. Realizing that each of their students will one day give account for how they managed the gifts and abilities God gave them, teachers at ACS work hard to draw out the personal best from each of their pupils.
From A to Z...literally!
Mrs. Sue Lynch teaches K-5. With nearly 30 years at ACS, she has seen numerous students hesitantly walk through the doors of her kindergarten classroom, clinging tightly to mommy or daddy’s hand (or both), then 13 years later watched those same young people take confident strides down the aisle to receive a graduation diploma.
“It’s a real joy to see them develop as they grow up,” Mrs. Lynch said. “I get to give them the tools they need to learn,” she said. “I teach them the letters that make sounds that make words that form ideas.”
ACS has recently opened a K-2 program which begins familiarizing children with colors, numbers and letters. With a seamless transition into K-4 and K-5, the building blocks are in place to advance confidently into upper grades.
Children also learn Bible verses and stories that add to their basic understanding of who God is, why we need Him, who Jesus is, and what He did for us on the cross. Good citizenship is central to kindergarten and elementary school as teachers reinforce positive messages learned at home.
Mrs. Lynch points out that ACS offers tremendous opportunities for kids to be involved in a variety of activities and educational experiences. The classes are small enough to make close friends and to get to know your teachers.
“ACS has a code of conduct that nurtures children in discovering their full potential,” Mrs. Lynch said. “I also get to know the families. The home doesn’t lose its first priority. This is an extension of the home,” she said. “We’re supporting the values of the Christian family, realizing the responsibility of standing in for a parent all day.”
