ASBESTOS INSPECTION REPORT To: ACS Employees and Parents In compliance with AHERA regulations concerning bi-annual follow-up inspections of asbestos in our school buildings, we offer the following: Our re-inspection was done on January 03, 2012 by Mr. Kim Ingle (he completed the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act Training for local Education Agencies Designees on October 1 and 2 , 2007). The tile floors in the main classroom building have been wet-stripped. Wax has been applied to prevent abrasive action from taking place from daily activity. |
WALK-A-THON: We are launching our Annual 2012 Walk-A-Thon Health Initiative on Friday, February 17. Please be involved in this fundraiser to help raise funds to purchase Computer Technology. We have planned a Walk-A-Thon Fun Day for April 11 for everyone to exercise and have fun. Parents are welcome to participate, too. There are also many prizes too that will be won for those who help raise money. Details will be given out on February 17.
A PLACE TO GROW: Praise the Lord, we are receiving many calls from interested families for next year! K2, K3, K4, and K5 families are being inviewed as well as students for grades 1-12 where we have some openings. Our enrollment efforts will follow the theme of "A Place to GROW!" As an ACS parent, you will be encouraged by looking at our updated school web site, www.alamancechristianschool.org, for some eye-opening information about the balanced program that is offered at ACS. You will be able to direct prospective parents to our web site where they can view information about the school.
RE-ENROLLMENT will begin February 3. As part of our A Place to GROW Campaign, we will be waiving next year's Capital Assessment Fee of $500 for current families who are instrumental in a new family enrolling. For each additional new family enrolled, the current ACS family will receive $100 toward tuition or fees. Share what ACS has to offer and help yourself in the process! When you re-enroll, we will give you an attractive information packet that you can personally give to a family that you think may be interested in what ACS offers. Personal contact and recommendations are the most effective means of attracting new students. We will be advertising in the Times-News, holding several Open Houses, and strongly urge you to direct people to our website. In light of our interviewing new families now, we would encourage you to get your re-enrollment in soon!
SPIRITUAL EMPASIS WEEK MARCH 5-9: The Encounter Revival Ministry Team will be coming to ACS in March for special meetings with the students. The team of 23 will arrive at ACS on Saturday, March 3. We are in need of housing for the team members for the week. If you are interested in hosting a team member during this time and would like more information, please call the school office.
PTF AUCTION: Spread the word, on Saturday, March 24, the PTF will host a silent/live auction. This year the auction will be held during the day from 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. The silent auction will begin at 10:30 a.m. and end at 12:00 Noon. The live auction for children begins at 10:30 a.m., ending at 11:00 a.m. The main live auction will begin at 12:15 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. The silent auction results will be announced during the main live auction. This is a great fundraising opportunity to benefit ACS Technology Needs and The New Warrior Field. Advance tickets for concession meals will be on sale at the school office beginning in March. Auction participation is free. We are in need of parents who are willing to volunteer some time to make desserts to sale at the auction, to help with the auction, and cleaning after. If you are able to help, please contact the school office. Remember, all parents and teachers are members of this special "club" called the PTF. Show your support for your child's education.
TEACHER'S WORK DAY: Teacher's Work Day is Monday, February 20. We will operate our Daycare for those who need it and who sign up in advance. Contact Michelle Funk if you are in need of daycare.
ABSENCE AND TARDY NOTES: When your child is absent or tardy, please send a written excuse back to school with your child upon his return to class stating the date and reason for his absence or tardy as required by state law.
REQUESTING WORK FOR A SICK STUDENT: If your child is absent for the day and you would like to get his/her assignments, you must call in by 9:00 a.m. in order for the elementary teachers and high school classmates to be able to have time to get your child's homework together. You can pickup those assignments at the end of the day. Another option would be to check InfoDirect for your child's assignments.
ACCURATE PHONE NUMBERS CRITICAL: If your home or work number has changed since the start of the school year, please let us know. It is CRITICAL that we have a number where we can contact parents in case of an emergency.
TUITION REMINDER: If you can not meet your tuition payment obligation by the due date (the tenth of the month), please consult with the finance office. We must meet our financial obligations; therefore, prompt payment of all accounts is absolutely necessary. Late fees will be applied for bills not paid by the 15.
