With nine seniors graduating from the 2009 State Championship team, folks had to wonder what the 2010 season would hold. Three out of four defenders, our goalie, both starting linemen and three out of four midfielder's were among those starters that needed replacements. With an influx of junior varsity players and the addition of three seniors who had not played varsity, the 2010 edition of Warrior Soccer turned some heads. A huge win in Greensboro over undefeated Vandalia, and two wins over Gospel Light topped the highlights for a regular season filled with drama. The quarter-final win over a Gospel Light team that featured eight seniors and three juniors was huge. After playing Wake dead even for the first few minutes of the semi-final game, fifteen minutes of nightmare decended on the Warriors. Even though we had our chances to score, we went down by three goals, one of which was a penalty kick. The Warriors fought back to 3-1 and played Wake head-to-head right up to the final whistle. A consolation win over a very tough and determined Vandalia side capped off a most unusual and rewarding season of growth as a team.
