Alamance Christian Preschool provides families with more than childcare- our program offers each family a Christ-centered, thoughtfully structured, early learning experience that sparks curiosity, builds strong foundations, and prepares young minds for future academic success and purpose in Christ.

A Program with Purpose

In combination with a rigorous academic focus, students in every preschool grade begin with the Bible. Our students do not just hear Bible stories about characters, they learn the tangible power and God’s truth through His Word. We believe no child is too young to be exposed to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Children are encouraged in the truth that Jesus sees them, loves them, hears their prayers, and is with them all the time! Success for us means children leave Preschool with confidence they can call on the name of  Jesus.

With more than a decade of proven programmatic success, families appreciate the continuity ACS offers as not many Christian schools can do what we do. We serve the entire family through infancy to graduation with a Biblical worldview. ACS is truly an educational home.

Infant Classroom (6 weeks - 12 months)

In the Infant program, our teachers provide your baby with an abundance of love and care as well as opportunities to begin learning the world around them through a Biblical worldview! The skills students learn in nursery:

Developing bonds with family and caregivers to foster internal sense of safety

Strengthening senses to investigate the world around them

Discovering the foundations of spoken language through cooing and other sounds

Physical skills such as crawling, sitting, and pulling themselves up

Using age appropriate sensory and creative arts to encourage motor development

Building the foundations for future writing and practical skills

As our families journey through parenting, many for the first time, having well equipped, experienced teachers to support parents through their child’s infancy is monumental. Walking alongside our families through prayer, and day to day collaboration, and encouragement, we are able to solidify a strong foundation for years to come.

Toddler Classroom (K1: 12 months - 24 months)

The natural curiosity at the toddler stage of development is further cultivated and enriched for your toddler in our K1 program. Toddlers experience physical and cognitive developments with growing momentum. Our teachers ignite the love for learning, while aiding students in their natural developmental process through Biblical teaching and developmentally appropriate creative play. The skills students learn in K1:

Speaking 1-3 word sentences

Naming 3 basic colors and shapes

Communicating basic wants and needs, such as “want more,” “all done,” and “help”

Facilitated parallel play with peers and caregivers, encouraging a sense of autonomy

Pre-writing skills through arts and crafts

Anticipating a routine and following simple instructions that are re-occurring

2 Year Old Classroom

Preschool preparation is introduced in our two year old program. Socially, spiritually, academically, cognitively, and emotionally, our 2 year old program is a metaphoric bridge between play based learning and academic rigor. While the most of the day is learning through observation, action, and responsive play, 25% of the day  is academically driven. The skills students learn in K2:

Speaking in 4-8 word sentences

Increasing complex and descriptive language

Identifying patterns in their environment

Reading readiness through story telling from visual contexts

Communicating needs and wants appropriately to peers and caregivers

Deliberate prewriting practice through daily fine motor skills exercises

Identifying 7 basic colors and shapes

Counting orally 1 - 10

Appropriate imaginative play with peers

Students dive into a Bible based, creative curriculum that both nurtures natural curiosity and fosters scholarly progress. Families are aided in their efforts to ensure their child has a well-rounded learning experience. Our teachers encourage independence, provide support, and most importantly instill the importance of God’s Word. The intentional balance of structured play offers students the opportunity to be challenged academically and supported creatively.

3 Year Old Classroom

Our three year old program is designed to purposefully and appropriately accelerate kindergarten readiness. Students in our K3 program are challenged with the Abeka curriculum, while having an enriching supplemental preschool wide creative curriculum. By offering our students an equally balanced day of both play led learning, and primary educational framework students get the best of both worlds! The skills students learn in K3:

Using 6-10 word sentences

Recognizing their name in print

Identifying uppercase letters

Understanding who, what, when, where, why

Identifying emotions of themselves and others and communicate those emotions

Showing interests in group play and building relationships

Following 3 step instructions

Understanding of positional language

Demonstrating persistence and adjusting approaches based on experience

From the advanced learning expectation to the Bible literacy enforced in our K3 program, families have a support system as they navigate entering the pre-k years. Ensuring families have the tools and knowledge to identify age appropriate behaviors with a Bible lens is vital to a conducive learning environment.

4 Year Old Classroom

Kindergarten readiness, functional life skills, and Biblical knowledge are all presented to our K4 students in a way that builds a life long love for learning and faith! Our K4 teachers emphasize literacy, numerical knowledge, and writing abilities. Students are learning with the Abeka curriculum for more than half of the school day! The skills students learn in K4:

Reading 2 vowel words, blends and upper/ lower case letters

Writing using pictures, letters, and symbols

Making simple patterns

Arranging sizes in order

Identifying numerals 0-20

Comparing quantities of a set

Using scissors effectively

Printing first name

Following simple step instructions

Responding appropriately to authority

Purposefully seeking friendships

Completing our K4 program prepares students for Kindergarten and beyond. Recognizing sentence structure, reading and writing simple words, and understanding number quantity beyond rote memorization is only the beginning of the academic foundation set for our K4 students.
