At Alamance Christian School, we believe that a Christ-centered, quality education should be accessible to every family. The NC Opportunity Scholarship is a state-funded program that provides financial assistance to help cover tuition and required fees for schools like ACS.
Is my family eligible?
Yes. Starting with the 2024-2025 school year, North Carolina expanded the program so that all K-12 students are eligible to apply, regardless of household income or whether they previously attended a public school.
How much is the scholarship?
The scholarship amount is determined by a "Tier" system based on your household income and size. For the upcoming school year, the estimated award amounts are:
- Tier 1: Up to $7,942 (those with lowest income reported)
- Tier 2: Up to $7,148 per student
- Tier 3: Up to $4,766 per student
- Tier 4: Up to $3,754 per student (those with highest/no income reported)

Dates and Deadlines
- February 1: The Priority Application period opens. We strongly encourage all families (new and returning) to apply on this date, as funds are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis within each tier.
- March 1: Priority Application period closes.
- April: Families typically receive notification of their award via the "MyPortal" system.
How to Apply
- Visit the NCSEAA Portal: Go to the Official Opportunity Scholarship Website to create your "MyPortal" account.
- Submit Your Application: Complete the online application during the February priority window.
- Choose ACS: When prompted to select a school, search for Alamance Christian School.
Does this cover 100% of tuition? For families in Tier 1 and Tier 2, the scholarship may cover the vast majority (or all) of ACS tuition and required fees. Families in Tiers 3 and 4 will receive a partial scholarship to be applied to their balance.
Do I have to re-apply every year? If you already receive the scholarship, you must renew your application each year in February, but you do not have to go through the full "new student" process.
How does the school receive the money? The state sends direct payment to ACS by certifying that your student is officially enrolled and attending classes (August and January). You will then endorse the amount in “My Portal” by approving the scholarship money to come to ACS. Then, the funds transfer to the school in approximately two weeks.
